Celebrating Our Podcast Collaborations: Kindred Spirits & Escape Into Period Pieces

One of my favorite parts of hosting Swoon‑Worthy has been discovering just how deeply our listeners connect with the stories that shaped them in childhood and young adulthood. There’s something timeless about returning to The Secret Garden, Little Women, Jane Austen's stories, and of course Anne of Green Gables. These stories are woven into our earliest ideas of imagination, courage, friendship, and longing — and they continue to resonate decades later.
It’s no surprise, then, that some of our most meaningful podcast collaborations have centered around these beloved classics. I love partnering with like‑minded creators who share our passion for period dramas, literary adaptations, and the comfort of returning to familiar worlds. If you’re a fellow podcaster interested in collaborating, we’d love to hear from you — just reach out through our contact form at the bottom of our site homepage.
Our Collaboration with Kindred Spirits Book Club Podcast

If you’re an Anne Shirley devotee, you must know the Kindred Spirits Book Club Podcast. Ragon and Kelly — longtime friends and lifelong readers — have built a beautiful space dedicated entirely to L.M. Montgomery, the Anne series, and the books that shaped them as people. Their conversations are warm, accessible, and full of insight; you don’t need a literature degree to enjoy their deep dives, but you’ll walk away feeling like you’ve uncovered hidden gems in stories you thought you already knew.
In Season 5 of Swoon‑Worthy, we teamed up for a crossover episode exploring Kevin Sullivan’s iconic 1985 Anne of Green Gables miniseries. Together, we talked about why this adaptation remains the ideal period drama — relatable, rewatchable, emotionally honest, and visually unforgettable. We began with our personal connections to the book and the miniseries, because a perfect period drama is one that lives in your memory as much as it lives on screen. From there, we explored favorite scenes, themes of family and friendship, Megan Follows’ luminous performance, the music, the costuming, and the dreamy landscapes of Avonlea.
It was a true kindred‑spirit moment in every sense.
Guest Hosting on Escape Into Period Pieces

Another highlight this year was joining Stephanie on her podcast Escape Into Period Pieces. If you’re a die‑hard period drama fan who loves thoughtful, cozy, deeply engaged conversations about beloved films and series, her show is a must‑listen.
On my guest episode, we talked about Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey — a story that has grown with me over the years. When I first read it as a young Austen fan working my way through the novels, I remember thinking it felt lighter and simpler than the others. It didn’t strike me as deeply as Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Emma, or Mansfield Park. But later in life, I found myself returning to it with new affection.
There’s something so relatable about Catherine Morland’s journey — not everyone’s love story begins with sweeping declarations or dramatic first meetings. Sometimes it’s gentle, awkward, hopeful, and wonderfully human.
We also discussed the 2007 adaptation starring Felicity Jones, which is pure comfort viewing for me and my sister. It captures Austen’s humor and wit with such charm, and the cast is spot‑on. I consider it one of the most underrated Austen adaptations, which is why I loved talking about it with Stephanie — and why my sister and I covered it back in Season 2 of Swoon‑Worthy.
Why These Collaborations Matter
Every time we collaborate with another podcast, it feels like opening the door to a bigger, cozier parlor — one filled with people who love stories as much as we do. These conversations remind me that period dramas aren’t just entertainment; they’re shared memories, emotional touchstones, and invitations to revisit the stories that shaped us.
If you’re a podcaster who loves period dramas, literary adaptations, or nostalgic storytelling, we’d be delighted to connect. You can reach out through our contact form at the bottom of our site homepage, and let’s see what kind of magic we can create together.
